Boc said that if the government fails to take into consideration the position adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, the party would go ahead with submitting the no-confidence motion to dismiss government.
Early Tuesday, the Chamber of Deputies in plenary session adopted the simple motion "Cancel the first registration tax", 158 to 89 votes and seven abstentions.
The motion was backed by democrat liberals, who submitted it, far rightists and leftist social democrats.
Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu accused the PDL of giving a demagogic and populist speech, but added that the government will consider the elements included in the simple motion adopted by the Chamber of Deputies.
Tariceanu said that after discussions on the theme, parties either oppose the car tax, either wish to amend it, with the exception of a sole party, the PDL, who came up only with a demagogic and populist speech.
The official said government will make a new proposal to amend the country’s car tax in the following period. Government is considering a hike in the pollution tax for very old cars, with non-euro, Euro 1 and Euro 2 engines, and a change in the sum paid for new cars, through a system in which CO2 emissions will represent the main calculation criterion.
Tariceanu announced that the draft ordinance on the car pollution tax would be amended through the introduction of new rules that would correlate the CO2 emission levels with the tax, starting with July and with European Commission advice.
