Romanian Democratic Liberal Party Postpones Internal Elections For Next Year

Romania’s ruling Democratic Liberal Party decided Monday to reschedule the elections for the party’s central leadership for the beginning of next year, said vice-president Gheorghe Flutur, pointing out that the decision was adopted with a majority of its leaders’ votes.

Flutur said the Government needs to focus its attention on „solving the country’s economic and social problems” so the party’s internal elections should be postponed for a later date. The exception will be local elections, which will proceed as planned.

Flutur also said the party’s National Standing Bureau has forwarded this proposal to the Directors’ College, a larger leadership body, which will vote on the initiative later this month.
