Romanian Development Min Says More People To Benefit From Social Homes

Romania’s minister of development, public works and housing, Laszlo Borbely, told a news conference Friday that the new housing laws stipulate that all people who earn less than the average salary can benefit from social housing.

“Anyone who earns less than the average salary per economy may now benefit from social housing if they observe the criteria to be set by mayors,” Borbely said.

The official said the new housing laws are inspired mostly from the Austrian system and include stipulations regarding the need for local authorities to have a well-planned strategy regarding the construction of dwellings, as well as regulations regarding rents.
 
Borbely hopes the laws may become effective as of this year and added the ministry would request urgent approval procedures in Parliament.
