Romanian Development Min To Sell State-Made Homes Cheap

Homes made by the Romanian National Housing Agency (ANL), meant to be rented by young people, will be sold at prices below EUR19,140 for a studio, below EUR26,950 for two rooms and below EUR36,014 for three-room apartments.

The Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism developed a draft law amending the criteria for those wishing to buy a state-made home. The draft normative act will be presented in the Government meeting Wednesday.

The document proposes the reduction of the timeframe in which the tenant can buy the home to one year from the current three. "Today, tenants must not have a family income higher than twice the average salary on economy. This provision will be eliminated," said regional development and tourism minister Elena Udrea.

At the same time, the draft normative act will establish the prices set for the ANL homes sold to tenants.

According to Udrea, the calculated selling price for one studio apartment will not be higher than EUR19,140, for a two-room apartment the value will not be higher than EUR26,950, while for three rooms the peak value will be EUR36,014.

Surfaces reach 40-50 square meters in studio flats, 57-58 square meters for two-room apartments and 67-70 square meters for three-room apartments.

The ministry hopes to sell 20,000 ANL apartments, for approximately EUR500 million.
