"In two years of activity, we have invited various people who were part of the state system in those times, people from the BCRE, journalists who approached this topic. Moreover, the entire report contains the testimonies of these people. The conclusions are based on these testimonies. The common conclusion of all people heard was that Nicolae Ceausescu did not hold accounts outside the country," said the president of the investigation committee, conservative Sabin Cutas.

He said all people heard insisted on the fact that Ceausescu did not have any reasons to deposit money outside the country, as long as he was convinced that he is in full control of the situation.

Within the general debates, conservative lawmaker Dragos Dumitriu congratulated the members of the committee for having the courage to state Nicolae Ceausescu did not have any accounts abroad and asked to know the sums spent after the revolution “in pursuit of this ghost called the Ceausescu fortune."

The report was enacted with 97 pros, 13 cons and 58 abstentions.

The committee, compiled in October 2006, included social democrat Ion Chelaru, liberal Titu Gheorghiof, conservative Gelil Eserghep, Hungarian minority party member Verestoy Attila and conservative Sabin Cutas.
