Romanian Dignitaries’ Wages To Hike In 2010 If The Economy Allows It - PM
Wages of Romanian dignitaries and people in public office, frozen for this year, will be increased in 2010 only if the country’s economy allows wage hikes for this category of staff, Prime Minister Emil Boc said Tuesday.

"No one in this country is happy with their wages, but the economy has been declining since September last year. Right now, I don’t know what revenue will be collected. For dignitaries, it’s only a matter of having the same wages as last year and if the economy allows it, we’ll talk of hikes in 2010,” Boc said at a general meeting with local authorities.
He added the Labor Ministry will draft in three months the legal frame regulating wages in the entire public sector.
The government decided last week to freeze Wages of Romanian dignitaries and people in public office this year, after it had initially considered freezing wages and pensions in the entire public sector for six months.
Boc said Romania has about 7,000 dignitaries and people in public office.
