Puiu has won the Un Certain Regard award in 2005 for "The Death of Mr. Lazarescu".
"Aurora" tells the story of Gigi Marinescu (played by Cristi Puiu), a police chief, married and with a nine-year-old daughter, who takes on a mistress ten years his junior. Marinescu is eventually overwhelmed by his double life and, working on a homicide case, he finds similarities between his life and that of the victim.
"Aurora" will be screened in the Un Certain Regard section, together with "Angelica" by 102-year-old director Manuel de Oliveira and "Les Amours Imaginaires" by Xavier Dolan.
Director Claire Denis heads the jury for Un Certain Regard.
