"There are resources for the hike of budget collections through the reduction of tax evasion of up to 2% of the GDP, namely EUR2-3 billion, to increase budget income, before 2010," Vosganian said at the 2007 activity report of the Financial Guard.
The institution, subordinated to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, unfolded 173,350 control actions in the previous year, noting 135,982 cases of financial-fiscal regulation breaches.
The Financial Guard applied sanctions that brought additional income worth RON272.98 million (EUR1 = RON3.6436) to the budget, RON178.5 million of which were collected during control.
The staff of the institution was increased by 500 positions in the previous year, to 1,805 positions, 1,605 of which in territory structures.
