Mutu competes for the award with Milan’s Kaka and Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Internazionale Milano), the paper noted.
The nominees were made based on the votes cast by footballers in Serie A and the awards will be presented at a ceremony in Milan on January 28, 2008.

Best Italian Footballer: Daniele De Rossi (AS Roma), Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan), Francesco Totti (AS Roma);
Best Goalkeeper: Sebastien Frey (AC Fiorentina), Julio Cesar (Internazionale Milano), Angelo Peruzzi (Lazio Roma);
Best Young Player: Riccardo Montolivo (AC Fiorentina), Giampaolo Pazzini (AC Fiorentina), Giuseppe Rossi (FC Parma);
Best Defender: Marco Materazzi (Internazionale Milano), Philippe Mexes (AS Roma), Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan);
Best coach: Carlo Ancelotti (AC Milan), Cesare Prandelli (AC Fiorentina), Luciano Spalletti (AS Roma);
Best referee: Nicola Rizzoli, Roberto Rosetti, Massimiliano Saccani.
The winner of Best Player award will be selected from the nominees in the categories Best Italian Player and Best Foreign Player.
