Of the 65 new cases of infection with the AH1N1 virus, 31 were in capital city Bucharest, seven in Brasov, Dolj and Mures, respectively, four in Constanta county, three cases in Iasi, three in Ilfov county, one case in Calarasi, Prahova and Sibiu, respectively, the Health Ministry said in a press release Monday.
Six cases of infection were identified at the University Campus in Brasov last week. The students’ quarantine period ended. Other 12 cases were confirmed in children with aged 12 to 17, who had returned from England.
The Health Ministry said another 22 cases of AH1N1 infection were confirmed in people who returned from England (8), Spain (7), USA (2), Canary Islands (1), Singapore (1), Peru (1), Ireland (1) and the United Arab Emirates (1). Some of the patients that contracted the virus generated secondary cases of infection among the members of their families.
Romanian health authorities continue the epidemiologic investigations to identify and hospitalize the people that contracted the virus, the Health Ministry added.
