„Teaching personnel have 25% lower salaries, even 50% lower compared to the start of last year, in some cases, a part of the education sector’s employees are jobless, there are schools which have not been renovated, there are pupils forced to commute because there are no schools or teachers near their homes. This is what Romanian education looks like and the problems we have listed affect the quality of the educational act,” FSLI said.

Despite this, FSLI leader Aurel Cornea said, all of the circa 200,000 members of FSLI will take part Monday in the opening of the new school year, out of respect for the pupils and parents. However, unionists are encouraged to wear a badge saying „-25%” in symbolic protest against the Government.
