The Romanian Government passed a resolution in its meeting Wednesday creating an inter-ministry workgroup to draw up Romania's strategy on moving towards the electric automobile. The group includes experts from the ministries of Economy, Transport, Finance, Environment and members of the country's carmakers and importers association APIA.
"The two carmakers on the Romanian market, Renault and Ford, are among the world's pioneers in electric car research and I think it's a great opportunity for Romania to try and develop and encourage the use of electric cars," Videanu said.
Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc said Tuesday, at the Mediafax Talks about Auto Industry conference in Bucharest, that Romania needs to start work on a strategy to move towards the electric automobile, which would help lower pollution and reduce dependency of fuels.
