Borbely said he was surprised by the data he received on the clunkers program, adding that, within one week since the start of the program, there were 26,800 vouchers issued and 10,000 cars were delivered.
The dignitary also said he wants to expand the program to include public authorities and institutions, adding the ban applied by the government refers solely to the purchase of new cars, not the replacement of old cars.
The Romanian clunkers program started last Thursday, after the Government relaunched the campaign for the scrapping of old cars. In the new version of the program, one owner can scrap multiple cars and receive multiple vouchers.
