Between January and May 2009, the Government approved 110 draft normative acts, including 59 emergency ordinances, 46 draft laws and five simple ordinances issued based on the habilitation law, in January, according to a Ministry document obtained by MEDIAFAX.
Out of all 110 initiatives approved by the Government, only 27% represent projects for which the Executive announced the intention to promote according to its legislative agenda.
The comparative analysis of the number and structure of the legal initiatives enacted by the Government in the timeframe mentioned reveals that 53% are emergency ordinances, 42% are draft laws and 5% are simple ordinances.
Compared to previous governments, the number of emergency ordinances issued by the current Cabinet is higher than the number of similar acts issued by the Tariceanu Government between January and May 2005 (44 emergency ordinances) and is almost three times higher than the number of similar ordinances issued by the CDR Government in January – May, 1997 (22 acts).
