Romania Estimates To Collect RON13.44B In Tax Per Pft This Year

According to the 2009 state budget draft, obtained by MEDIAFAX, Romania will collect RON12.695 billion in tax per profit from economic operators, 2.98% more than the RON12.328 billion collected in 2008.

In 2008, the tax per profit contributed RON13.029 billion to budget revenue, of which RON701.27 million came from commercial banks.

In 2007, Romania collected RON10.52 billion from the tax per profit, of which RON10.23 billion from economic operators and just RON298.44 million from commercial banks.

The bulk of budget revenues to be collected in 2009 will continue to come from the value added tax, namely RON44.416 billion, up 8.67% compared to RON40.87 billion collected in VAT in 2008.

The tax per income will be another significant source of budget revenue in 2009 and the government estimates to collect 8.72% more than in 2008, to more than RON20 billion. Of this estimated revenues from income tax, RON14.76 billion will come from income tax on salaries, up 13.4% compared to 2008, and RON1.7 billion will come from tax on dividends, up 10.21% compared to last year.

Budget revenue is estimated at RON75.7 billion this year and expenses at RON94.5 billion, resulting in a budget deficit of RON18.8 billion.

Social security contributions will generate RON463 million, up 3.94% against 2008.

Non fiscal revenue will increase 53.96%, to RON5.76 billion.

The 2009 state budget is grounded on a forecast economic growth of 2.5%, a budget deficit of 2% of GDP, an inflation rate of 5% and a gross domestic product of RON579 billion.
