"IMF experts referred to a series of conditions, including the promoting of a prudent fiscal and budget policy. If they decide to start negotiations, those will take place in Bucharest,” government sources told Mediafax Wednesday.

A Romanian delegation including central bank deputy governor Cristian Popa and Finance Ministry secretary of state Bogdan Dragoi are having talks in Washington with the International Monetary Fund on a potential agreement.

Last week, Popa and Dragoi were also in Brussels to talk to the European Commission representatives about a financial aid for Romania.

Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea said Wednesday that Romanian authorities are having talks both with the European Commission and with the International Monetary Fund to see the structure, the value and the conditions of a possible loan.

"We will establish the sum after we see all the conditions. If we do not like them, we won’t take it," Pogea added.
