Paleologu said that the ministry analyses the merging of a series of institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Culture. Some of these agencies can not enter this process immediately as they are involved in the organization of cultural events, the minister added.

The minister announced the founding of the National Institute of Patrimony that will include the National Institute of Historical Monuments and the National Office of Historical Monuments.

The National Institute for Romanian Exile Memory will merge with the Institute for Investigating the Crimes of Communism.

The National Cinematographic Center, the National Center for Preserving and Promoting Traditional Culture and the Romanian Office for Copyright are among the institutions subordinated to the ministry that will be reorganized.

The Romanian Government decided to reorganize 226 government agencies and leave only 107, by scrapping 9,200 jobs and directing their revenues to the state budget, which would translate into total savings of EUR150 million.
