Romanian Football Referee Commission Chief, Businessman Arrested In Match-Fixing Case
The Bucharest Court on Sunday ordered the 29-day preventive arrest of Central Referee Commission head Vasile Avram and businessman Sorin Terbea for taking bribes to fix football matches in the local championship.

Nicolae Iacobescu and Vasile Constantin Chiorean, part of Terbea's entourage, are also investigated in the case, at large, for accessory to bribery.
Anticorruption prosecutors said that on May 21, 2011, Avram, supervisor for the match between FCM Targu Mures and Universitatea Cluj, received EUR19,000 from Terbea to appoint referees endorsed by FCM Targu Mures.
