The Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv received 29 consulate assistance requests for repatriation, of which eight come from Romanian citizens and two from Palestinian citizens, Diaconescu said. There are 19 repatriation requests for children.

Repatriation requests for six families, totaling 34 people, have already been processed.

The minister said these families have left to Jordan, state which will ensure transit to other destination.

The Foreign Affairs Minister called for calm and guaranteed the consulate assistance activity is organized in such a way so as to be available 24 hours a day.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry had announced Friday noon two families, totaling nine people, asked for assistance in leaving the Gaza Strip from the Romanian authorities in Tel Aviv. Six of them are children, official sources told MEDIAFAX Friday.

According to an official statement, the Foreign Affairs Ministry recommends Romanian citizens in the Gaza Strip to contact the Romanian Embassies in Tel Aviv and Cairo to start procedures to leave the territory.

The ministry said it is ready to give assistance to Romanian citizens who want to leave the Gaza Strip.

The team of the Romanian Consulate in Tel Aviv was consolidated to manage efficiently the requests coming from Romanian citizens, the statement said.
