Vlasescu said the amendments regarding the copyright tax collection, adopted by the Government through an emergency ordinance on Wednesday, were necessary as certain gaps in the law triggered tax evasion cases.
According to the minister, people who gain income from independent activities will pay a 10.5% social security contribution, a 5.5% health insurance contribution and a 0.5% contribution to the unemployment fund.
Starting July, the deductible quotas for income gained from intellectual property rights will be reduced to half, from 40% to 20% of the gross income, and deductible quotas for income gained from creating monumental art will also be reduced from 50% to 25% of the gross income. Thus, the tax on gross income will rise to 12.8%, from 10%.
