The funds are mentioned in the yearly marketing and tourism promotion program, approved Wednesday by the Government. The program aims to promote the most important destinations and forms of tourism in the country, on the tourism markets abroad.

"This is the first time when such a program is the result of collaboration in the Consultation Council for Tourism. The Consultation Council for Tourism,  founded late 2007, is formed of professional organizations, employers, NGOs, local authorities and the ministries involved in tourism.

The program mentions the promotion of the national tourism brand between 2008 and 2010, marketing actions through the internet and other electronic means, participation in tourism expositions in the country and abroad, the organization of educational and informational visits, in the country, for media representatives, tour operators, representatives of companies with activities in tourism in the country and abroad, representatives of companies or NGOs with activities in tourism, representatives of the central and local administration, other leaders of opinion, tourism specialists, promotion and advertising activities through airliners operating flights towards destinations in Romania and through the main airports in the country and abroad from which flights to Romania depart.

The Executive also approved the annual Program for the development of tourism products, with an  EUR1.39 million budget, for the restructuring of the information system in tourism, the organization of international partnerships, consultancy services for the improvement of the legal frame in accordance with EU regulations and the acquisition of documentary material.
