The embassy confirmed the license plate of the car that hit and killed the young woman at a pedestrian crossing belongs to the embassy.

As the driver has jurisdictional immunity, Romanian authorities will follow through with the investigations but the Austrian citizen can’t be questioned and the case must be transferred to Austria for trial, the cited sources explained.

The name of the driver was not made public.

The accident victim, a 22-year-old student from Calarasi, southern Romania, was hit by the embassy car on a pedestrian crossing in Bucharest. The impact threw her 20 meters away.
