The information was confirmed by communications and information society  minister Gabriel Sandu.
 
"In the current format, Law 298/2008 on the recording of data from  communications exceeds the provisions of Directive 2006/24/EC. The normative act  will be amended by the end of this year, a deadline by which all telecom  operators will ensure the technical conditions for the security of information  obtained," Sandu told MEDIAFAX.
 
Law 298/2008 on the recording of data generated or processed by electronic  communications services meant for the public or by public communications  networks, which came into force on January 21, states that communications  services suppliers can supply prosecutors with traffic and tracking data  corresponding to internet access, e-mail and internet telephony only if such  information is required within an ongoing criminal investigation.
