The panel of judges ruled that Voicu, who is charged with corruption, will remain under arrest until May 30.
The Supreme Court Friday ruled to extend Voicu’s preventive arrest by 30 days, at the request of anticorruption prosecutors, while the defense argued that evidence had been obtained illegally.
The High Court’s ruling was challenged with the Court panel.
Voicu was arrested late-March on charges of influence peddling and fraud. Later, Supreme Court judge Florin Costiniu and businessmen Marius Locic and Costel Casuneanu were also placed under arrest in the same case, but a Court panel decided they would be investigated at large.
