Romanian Govt To Take Responsibility For New Justice Codes After May 15 – Pres

The new Codes should be promulgated by May 20, Basescu said.

 

Speaking in a press conference, Basescu reminded that Romania has pledged to adopt the new Codes by January 1, 2009.

 

Basescu said adopting these Codes alone does not necessarily mean that Romania will no longer be monitored regarding its justice system, as the European Commission would require additional progress.

 

The Romanian government on Wednesday approved the Criminal Code draft, as well as the drafts of the Criminal Procedure Code and the Civil Procedure Code.
