Romanian Halfback, Midfielder To Miss Game Vs. Albania

Romanian halfback Cristian Chivu and midfielder Banel Nicolita will not be able to perform in the last game of Romania’s national soccer team against Albania, in the 2008 European Championship qualifiers, as they are both injured.

Romania’s national team coach Victor Piturca explained Tuesday in a press conference why the two footballers would not be able to play. "Chivu has made a lot of efforts to perform tomorrow (Wednesday – e.n.), but he is not feeling very well. As for Banel, he is injured and is to undergo a CAT scan. Thus, I really do not want to force him in any way, while Codrea is suspended," Piturca said.

The Romania-Albania match is to take place Wednesday, 18:00 (local time). As far as Group G is concerned, Romania and the Netherlands are already qualified for the Euro-2008 final tournament.
