Gatu said the time of the funeral will be established by Cozma’s family.
Gatu said his official T-shirt and official photo for the national team will be handed to the family at the funeral.
The funeral procession left Tuesday from Veszprem to Szeged, where fans can say farewell to the Romanian handball player. The coffin will then be taken to Nagylac, and then to Romania via Nadlac, and will travel through the cities of Arad, Deva, Brasov, Sibiu, Ploiesti and reach capital Bucharest. In each city, the procession will stop for ten minutes.
Gatu said the procession will not follow a certain itinerary in Bucharest. “His mother wants us to bring him home and then to the Pipera cemetery,” Gatu said.
Cozma was made citizen of honor of the Hungarian city of Vezsprem in a ceremony held Tuesday morning in the city sports hall.
Petre Cozma, his father, received the decoration and thanked the local authorities and the club officials in Veszprem for what they did for his son. He said he is proud to have sent his son to play for MKB Veszprem.
Cozma, aged 26, was killed Saturday night in a club in Veszprem, Hungary. Serbian Zarko Sesum and Croatian Ivan Pesic, another two players of the team MKB Veszprem, were involved in the incident.
Cozma was stabbed in the heart and was the only one who did not survive. The other team players were taken to hospital, as they were also stabbed and had severe, but not life-threatening wounds.
Cozma played for Romania’s national team in the World Championship in Croatia and before the transfer to Veszprem in 2006, he had played for Bucharest team Dinamo.
