Sanitas leader Marius Petcu said Thursday, at the end of the union's general council meeting, that each leader presented the situation of healthcare units in the country and that, in most towns and cities, there are losses of healthcare employee rights, such as unpaid stability bonuses and a 50% decrease in lunch tickets and bonuses.
Thus, healthcare employees decided to attend all actions organized by the Public Sector Employees Alliance and, in addition, they have set up a protest calendar of their own.
The Sanitas leader said that on October 20-22, over 10,000 healthcare employees will attend a protest rally, and then they will call a warning strike followed by a general strike.
Petcu added Bazac assured them the government agrees with developing a document that would insure the payment of healthcare employee wages until the end of 2009, using money prepared for medicine and thus postponing these debts.
According to the Sanitas leader, most leaders in the territory said there aren't enough money for the payment of all employees in the system, except until October 1.
The Romanian Public Sector Employees Alliance established Monday the calendar of protest actions and decided that on September 30 they will rally in front of the social democrat and of the democrat liberal party headquarters, also launching a call to all private sector employees to show solidarity and attend the general strike announced for October 5.
