Last week, a series of rumors were launched regarding alleged problems that several banks might be confronting.

Central bank governor Mugur Isarescu said Monday that the central bank might adopt drastic measures, such as withdrawing a bank’s authorization, if it proves that there were bankers who spread rumors regarding the situations of other lenders.

ARB said Monday it will look for solutions to protect the banking system from denigration and rumors, and will talk to this end with the central bank and the Justice and Interior Ministries.

"We have talked with the central bank about creating a system to make the monetary and foreign currency markets more fluid in case of financial turbulences," Ghetea said.
