The Romanian energy watchdog is expected to assess next week the impact of the higher imported gas prices on household bills, the same people said.
Imported gas prices are expected to increase by $50 per 1,000 cubic meters to $360-$365 per 1,000 cubic meters, due to recent hikes in international oil prices and higher prices for the Russian gas supplied to European states.
The Romanian authorities said under the country’s E.U. accession treaty, Romania agreed to align its natural gas prices to European levels, but the calendar for the hikes has not yet been made public.
