Romanian social democrat leader Mircea Geoana said Wednesday that Virgil Ardelean, one of the state secretaries appointed by ousted interior minister Gabriel Oprea, will be dismissed as head of the ministry’s General Department of Intelligence and Protection.

However, Geoana mentioned that some of the secretaries designated by Oprea would remain in office.

Geona did not name any names.

On Tuesday, Oprea handed in his resignation as interior ministry, after the social democrats withdrew their political support.

According to social democrat leaders, Oprea breached party regulations when appointing secretaries without consulting them.
