Romanian Jewelry Store Robbed By Two Ski Masked Men

A jewelry store in Sebis, in the western Romanian county of Arad, was robbed Monday afternoon by two men wearing ski masks who beat the shop assistant and tied her to a pipe.

Local police said the jewelry store is located in the center of the town and the shop assistant was alone at the time of the robbery.

The woman said two men wearing ski masks entered the shop Monday afternoon, punched and kicked her and then tied her to a pipe.

The men stole about 800 grams of gold jewelry and the woman managed to untie herself and hit the panic button, said Estera Bitis, spokeswoman for the police.

According to the police, the robbers were unarmed and witnesses said they fled to a car parked nearby.

The victim and the witnesses were heard Monday night and the police say the circle of suspects is still wide.
