Mikhail Gorbachev Comes To Bucharest For Local Paper Launch On April 14
Thiess said Gorbachev’s visit to Bucharest targets the launch of the new paper, adding more details will be offered next week.
„I am personally involved in the management of the new paper and I am acting on behalf of the investor, namely, an investment fund that concluded an agreement with a European media group, which will assume the takeover of this project as soon as certain parameters are carried through,” Thiess said.
According to Thiess, the paper’s editorial staff includes journalists from local papers Cotidianul, Gardianul, Ziua and Business Standard, which halted operations between December 2009 and January 2010.
Thiess underscored that Puterea has nothing to do with local media group Realitatea-Catavencu, owned by controversial businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, adding the new paper will be financed by one of Germany’s three largest media groups, but declined to say its name.
