The name of the 15 year-old minor was not disclosed but his accomplice was identified as Relu Margelu, another Romanian citizen, who is charged with first-degree murder.

On August 17, 2007 Italian Luigi Moriccioli was assaulted and robbed somewhere at the outskirts of Rome. Following the assault, the victim went into coma and passed away a few months after the incident.

Prosecutor Simonetta Matone asked that the boy be sentenced to nine years for manslaughter, but the judge ruled to give the maximum penalty.

The juvenile offender convicted on Thursday admitted his involvement in the theft but said he never hit the victim.
