Romanian Killed In Attack On UN Office In Afghanistan – Foreign Min
The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry on Saturday confirmed that one of the international staff members killed Friday in an attack on the UN office in Mazar-i-Sharif, northern Afghanistan, is a Romanian national.

Ministry official Doris Mircea said the victim's name is Motco Filaret. He was working within the Political Affairs Department of the UN compound in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Motco Filaret, 43, had also participated in UN operations in Kandahar, Tajikistan, the North Caucasus, Chechnya, Kyrgyzstan and in several other operations led by international organizations, said the source.
Seven international staff and five Afghan protesters were killed in the attack on the UN compound in Mazar-i-Sharif on Friday. Demonstrators were protesting the burning of a Koran by a pastor in the United States.
