Romanian Leu Opens Higher Vs Euro

The Romanian leu opened higher against the euro early Thursday, as opposed to the trend on the emerging markets, dealers said.

The leu opened at RON3.7500/7550 to the euro, up from Wednesday’s closing of 3.7810/7845.

“The Romanian leu followed an upward trend in the first hour of trading, while the emerging markets registered a downward trend without any spectacular evolution, especially after the information of a massive trader fraud at Societe Generale,” a dealer said.

The leu touched an early low of 3.76357650 at around GMT0830.
