Romanian Liberal Head Refuses Wildcard Candidate – Sources

"Tariceanu shutout Inimaroiu. He told him he does not have the profile of the mayor wanted by the electorate for District 4," the quoted sources said.
Adrian Inimaroiu visited the liberal leaders several minutes before the party’s Central Standing Office meeting. He had a brief meeting with Tariceanu, whom he asked to accept his new candidacy for the position of District 4 mayor.
After the meeting with Tariceanu, Inimaroiu hastily left the party headquarters and slammed the door of the car he was driving.
Inimaroiu went, Monday evening, to the headquarters of the Democrat Liberal Party, before the extraordinary meeting of the National Standing Office, where potential branch problems, after the announcement of the candidates, were to be discussed.
The District 4 branch of the National Liberal Party launched, early February, the candidate for District 4 mayor, namely Andrei Petrescu – general manager within a company that holds several hotels in Bucharest. Branch leaders decided on this candidate without any polls on a district level. Asked about the current liberal mayor of the district, Adrian Inimaroiu, the District 4 branch leader, Leopold Lupusanschi said Inimaroiu had lost liberal support because he did not attend the candidate selection and he did not come up with a political project.
Later, Inimaroiu said the launch of a different candidate for this position without approval from central leadership is proof of political incompetence by the "pseudo-president" of the District 4 liberal organization, adding that he would "surely" run for a new mandate as District 4 mayor.
