Two Busted With Counterfeit Money In Western Romania

Chief commissioner Nicolae Stamate of the local organized crime police squad said the two men were caught in a convenience store trying to pay with two counterfeit bills of RON100.
 
Police officers searched the home of one of them and found 160 counterfeit bills of RON100 RON each, three bills 50 Polish zlotych, two bills of RON50 and one bill of 10,000 Magyar forints.
 
The total amount of counterfeit money reaches RON18,000, Stamate said.
 
Investigators established the young man had bought the bills from a Hungarian citizen in Budapest.
 
Both the Hungarian national and the Romanian are held in custody and investigated for fraud and circulation of counterfeit money. If found guilty, they are liable to three to 15 years in prison.
