The initiative amends the statute of deputies and senators and stipulates lists of lawmakers absent from Parliament meetings would be published on the institution’s website.
In the motivation of the act, Anastase said the statute of deputies and senators stipulates that attending Parliament sessions is a legal and moral obligation for lawmakers, and regulations of both chambers of Parliament state the presence of lawmakers is mandatory.
However, she said, works in parliament are often impaired as quorum isn’t met because of lawmakers who are absent from meetings.
The draft act will be presented in a joint meeting of the two chambers of Parliament standing offices.
