Premium and luxury car deliveries, namely cars costing more than EUR100,000, decreased by more than half in the first half of the year, compared to the same interval of the previous year, with slight exceptions. The decrease was eased by the demand for cheaper cars in the ranges of premium carmakers, according to data from the Romanian Association of Car Producers and Importers (APIA).

On a car market that decreased by 51.3% in the first half of the year, compared to the similar interval of the previous year, to 70,610 units, Audi registered sales decreasing by 52.6%, BMW by 61.1%, and Jaguar by 72.3%. In addition, Maserati deliveries decreased by 71.4%, Mercedes-Benz decreased by 42.6%, and Porsche saw a 57.6% decrease.

Sales dropped three times for models costing more than EUR100,000 in the first half of the year, below 60 units, compared to the similar interval of the previous year, when over 160 such cars were sold.
