Carmen B., a sophomore with the Timisoara Medicine and Pharmacy University, turned herself in Sunday morning after she had been placed on the police’s wanted list.
"The girl suspected in the murder and mutilation of a man turned herself in this morning and is currently being heard by prosecutors,” said local County Police spokesman Sergiu Rus.
Prosecutors’ office spokeswoman Mihaela Pop said the woman told prosecutors she wandered all night on the city streets before turning herself in in the morning.
A second suspect, found by police Saturday with slit wrists, will be taken in for hearings later in the day.
Police found the hacked body of a 65 year-old man in the trunk of a car parked outside a student hostel of the local University of Medicine Pharmacy Saturday morning. The prime suspects, a man and a woman, both 20, are students of the university.
Police found the young man Saturday afternoon. He had slit his wrists when police broke into the apartment where he was hiding. He was operated and is under strict guard at the hospital.
Police spokesman said police were called by the student hostel doorman, who noticed two students carrying big luggage that dripped blood.
“The doorman at the student hostel no. 2 of the Medicine University saw two youngsters carrying heavy luggage which they put in the back of a Mercedes, parked outside the hostel. The he noticed blood stains and called the police. Police arrived at the scene and found the hacked body of a man in the trunk and his legs in a bag,” Rus said.
The victim was of Roma ethnicity, was 65 and lived in Timisoara.
