The request was submitted by social democrat senator Dan Sova and party secretary general Liviu Dragnea, who said the evidence is sufficient for the Court to decide to cancel the elections.

The Constitutional Court may rule to annul elections in case the voting and counting were fraudulent. The request for annulment may be made by parties and candidates in the election, three days after voting concluded at the latest. The request must provide evidence.

After receiving the file from the Central Electoral Bureau and solving the requests to annul elections on the grounds of fraud, the Constitutional Court will validate the elections and publish their result in the Official Journal. The validation act is drafted in triplicate: one copy for the Court’s archives, one for the Parliament and one for the elected candidate.
