Romanian Mediafax News Agency Deputy Editor-In-Chief Elected WAN Board Member

Indira Crasnea, interim president of the Romanian Press Club and deputy editor-in-chief of Mediafax news agency, has been elected board member in the World Association of Newspapers, or WAN, the association said Wednesday.

The 61st edition of the World Newspaper Congress and World Editors Forum in Goteborg drew more than 1,800 publishers, editors and other senior newspaper executives from 113 countries on June 1-4.
 
The WAN annual general meeting reelected president Gavin O’Reilly, the Chief Operating Officer of Ireland-based Independent News & Media PLC.
 
The Paris-based WAN, the global organisation for the newspaper industry, defends and promotes press freedom and the professional and business interests of newspapers worldwide. Representing 18,000 newspapers, its membership includes 77 national newspaper associations, newspaper companies and individual newspaper executives in 102 countries, 12 news agencies and 11 regional and worldwide press groups.
