Romanian news agency Mediafax Tuesday evening received the Press award at the VIP Superlatives Gala, for “the professionalism which characterizes the agency’s activity to supply information”.

Romanian Mediafax News Agency Gets Press Award

The award was accepted by Mediafax’ general manager, Cristian Dimitriu.

“The secret of success lies in over 15 years of hard work and a team that has kept a high standard in journalism through time. I believe Mediafax is a school of journalism,” Dimitriu said when he accepted the award.

For the Television category, the VIP Superlatives Gala awarded the campaign “Any Idea of What Your Kid Is Doing Right Now?” broadcast by PRO TV, which also won an Emmy in September. The award was handed to Cosmin Stan and Paulo Herlo.

“This year the campaign won the News Emmy. (…) The Pro TV team is a strong, worthy team, as these prizes go to a team, and not to individuals,” Herlo said.

Romania’s International Festival Cerbul de Aur won the Entertainment Award, which given to the producer of the festival, Liana Sandulescu. In her turn, she offered the VIP magazine the diploma and the medal “Cerbul de Aur – 40 Years”.

Actor Dan Puric received the special award for the national conferences dedicated to Romanian Culture and Orthodoxy, under the title “Who We Are”.

Romanian carmaker Dacia received a special award for Brand of the Year. A special award for rebranding went to the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company.

The bank EximBank was awarded for its contribution to the development of society, while in the Fashion category, VIP Gala awarded designer Catalin Botezatu.

The Sports award went to “the golden Olympic athletes”, namely judoka Alina Dumitru, rowers Georgeta Andronache and Viorica Susanu, marathon racer Constantina Dita Tomescu and gymnast Sandra Izbasa.

In the Film category, director Nae Caranfil won the award for “The Rest Is Silence”.

The Event of the Year was designated the NATO Summit in Bucharest, and the award was handed to former Foreign Affairs minister, Adrian Cioroianu.

In the Folklore category, artists Traian Ilea and Valeria Codorean won the awards of the VIP Superlatives Gala, while the Pop-Rock Music award was given to Stefan Banica Jr.

The VIP Superlatives Gala granted the Person of the Year award to Patriarch Daniel Ciobotea.
