Andronescu also said the draft Code was drawn up based on the Strategy for Education, the National Pact for Education and the governing program, adding Romania needs effective laws in the education sector.

Furthermore, she stressed the law should engulf the best solutions meant to improve the education system, adding the draft Code is the outcome of talks with students, teachers, unionists and university officials - the actual beneficiaries of the education law.

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc on Wednesday said he would coordinate a committee that will bring face-to-face Andronesc, Miclea and their experts.

Furthermore, he said he analyzed the draft Code proposed by Andronescu, adding it contains several good things, but it does not observe certain stipulations, namely to depoliticize and decentralize the education system, which were included in the Pact for Education. He also pointed out that the country's ruling coalition committed, in its governing program, to observe the Pact.

The draft Code was launched for public debate on August 14, on the Education Ministry’s website, and it will be analyzed by social partners and the representatives of parents, pupils and students, over the next three weeks.

On August 10, Boc said the government would take responsibility in Parliament, on September 2, for the unitary pay law in the budget sector, the law restructuring government agencies, and the laws on pension-wage cumulus and on education.
