Romanian Mountain Rescuers Still Search For Two Tourists Missing Since Saturday

Twenty-five mountain rescuers are still looking for a man and a woman of 25 from Bucharest, who went missing on the mountain Saturday.

Mountain rescue service head Gheorghe Haiduc said rescue teams from Bucharest are looking for the two using special equipment that likely belongs to the country’s intelligence service. Haiduc added there is no chance the two are still alive.

Haiduc also said mountain rescuers endure pressure and offenses from the tourists’ family friends.

He added the mountain rescuers are exhausted after they climbed the mountain daily for the past seven days for search operations.

"If, God forbid, something happens elsewhere, I have no idea how we’d manage to intervene. Most of us are working on this case and we’re basically looking for two dead bodies,” Haiduc said.
