The joined foreign affairs and economic committees of Romania’s Parliament approved Saturday the nomination of social democrat Dan Nica for Deputy Prime Minister.

The new Cabinet member was validated with 19 votes in favor, five against and one abstention.
Nica told members of the economic committees one of his objective regards a higher degree of European funds absorption and the growth of the level of transparency as far as subordinated agencies are concerned.
He told members of the foreign affairs committees he regards the elimination of the 272 taxes “which are not necessary” one of his priorities.
“There are 450 taxes, 300 of them are fees and taxes collected from Romanians, and the costs for managing these taxes are higher than the cashed sums”, Nica said.
