Romania’s Population Decreased By 6,979 People In Dec 2010
In December 2010, Romania reported 16,523 babies born alive, down 1,250 compared to the previous month, and 23,502 deceased, up 1,601 compared to November, the INS said. Data show that 214 infants died in December.
According to INS, the negative natural growth, namely, the surplus of deceased compared to the surplus of newborns, triggered a decrease in population by 6,979 people in December. In November, Romania’s population decreased by 4,128 people.
Compared to December 2009, the number of babies born alive was down 879 in December this year and the number of deceased was lower by 1,384.
Romania reported 3,845 marriages in December 2010, down 1,275 compared to November, and 3,073 divorces, up 866 compared to the previous month.
In December 2010, the number of marriages was lower by 664 compared to the same interval in 2009, while the number of divorces was up 550.
