Romanian News Agency Mediafax To Award Best Short Film Prize At 2010 TIFF

A record 19 features and 19 short films will be screened from June 3 to June 5 in Cluj, northwestern Romania.

Some of the selected short films have participated in other international film festivals, such as Berlin ("Colivia", by Adrian Sitaru, winner of this year's DAAD), Rotterdam (Adina Pintilie's "Oxigen"), and Clermont-Ferrand ("Muzica in sange", by Alexandru Mavrodineanu).

This year's program also includes the country's entry to the 2010 Quinzaine des Realisateurs in Cannes, "Cautare", directed by Ionut Piturescu.

Stefan Constantinescu's competition entry "Troleibuzul 92" premiered at the Romanian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

"Timi", by Cristi Iftime, has received the Rector's Award at the CineMAIubit student festival in capital Bucharest.

Other entries to the RoDays short film competition include "Stuck on Christmas" by Iulia Rugina, "Maica Domnului de la parter" by Andrei Cohn, and "Zmeii" by Vlad Ilicevici and Andrei Tanase.

Mediafax will award the Best Romanian Short Film prize for the second year in a row. The jury comprises Croatian director Goran Odvorcic, Bulgarian director Sevda Kozareva and Romanian director and screenwriter Stanca Radu, last year's award recipient.

The RoDays section of TIFF 2010 is presented by Mediafax and co-organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute. It includes three days of screenings, workshops and meetings between Romanian filmmakers and foreign producers, distributors and other industry professionals.
