Romanian Nuclear Reactor Shut Dn On False Alarm
The second nuclear reactor of Romania sole power station Station was switched off Thursday due to a false alarm, the station’s operator Nuclearelectrica said in a statement.

The reactor will be turned on again in about 40 hours, the statement showed.
There was no danger to workers or to people living near the nuclear plant in eastern Romania and no harm to the environment, the operator also said.
The power plant in Cernavoda currently operates with two reactors, which provide around 18% of the country’s power needs. The plant has initially been designed to have five reactors, 700 Megawatt each, on Canadian CANDU-type technology.
